Hemel Old Town's extra Christmas market is Sunday 13 December, 11am to 3pm. Plus Tring's 100-stall festival on 28 November and every Berkhamsted date.
Hemel Hempstead’s own Christmas market is on Sunday 13 December, 11am to 3pm, on the Old Town High Street: an extra date added to the monthly Old Town Sunday market. The biggest market in the district is a fortnight earlier in Tring, where the Christmas Festival on Saturday 28 November puts more than 100 stalls on the High Street. Berkhamsted has festive stalls at its Festival of Light on Sunday 22 November and its makers’ and antiques markets on the first two Sundays of December.
The quick answer
- Hemel Hempstead: Old Town Christmas Market, Sunday 13 December, 11am to 3pm, High Street, HP1 3AF. The regular Old Town market is the Sunday before, 6 December.
- Tring: Christmas Festival, Saturday 28 November, 3.30pm to 8.30pm, over 100 stalls, free. Farmers’ markets on 5 and 19 December.
- Berkhamsted: Festival of Light stalls, Sunday 22 November, 2pm to 6pm; antiques market 6 December; artisan market 13 December.
- Not yet known: the date of Hemel’s Christmas lights switch-on, which had festive market stalls last year.
Every date below was checked on 6 October 2026 against the market’s own page, the charity that runs it, or the council. All are free to walk round.
Hemel Old Town: Sundays 6 and 13 December
The Hemel Old Town Market runs on the first Sunday of every month from March to December, 11am to 3pm, on the Old Town High Street, HP1 3AF. Its listing on the council’s events calendar adds an extra Christmas Market on 13 December (Dacorum Borough Council events calendar). That gives Hemel two December Sundays:
- Sunday 6 December, the regular market, 11am to 3pm
- Sunday 13 December, the Christmas market
The organisers describe artisan makers, handmade products, gifts, bakers and street food. The listing gives 11am to 3pm for the series and no separate time for the Christmas date, so check nearer the day. Stall enquiries go to hotsundaymarket@gmail.com.
The Old Town Hall is on the same street, and its family Christmas show, The Pixie and the Christmas Pudding, opens on Saturday 12 December, the day before the Christmas market (The Old Town Hall). Hemel’s pantomime dates are on our pantomime page.
Tring Christmas Festival: Saturday 28 November
Tring Together’s Christmas Festival is on Saturday 28 November, 3.30pm to 8.30pm, across Tring High Street, the Victoria Hall and the Memorial Garden. The charity promises over 100 market stalls, live entertainment on three stages, late opening in the High Street shops, open churches, a funfair, and Father Christmas with real reindeer. Stall applications are still open (Tring Together).
Our Tring Christmas Festival page has the full detail and will carry the road closures once they are published.
Berkhamsted: 22 November, then 6 and 13 December
The Berkhamsted Festival of Light on Sunday 22 November has festive stalls on the High Street. Berkhamsted Town Council lists it as 2pm to 6pm, with the Elves’ Posting House at St Peter’s Courthouse (Berkhamsted Town Council). Other listings give a 3.30pm start; our Festival of Light page follows that conflict.
Two regular High Street markets have their last dates of the year in December:
- Berkhamsted Antiques and Vintage Market, Sunday 6 December, 9.30am to 3.30pm (market dates)
- Berkhamsted Artisan Market, Sunday 13 December, 9.30am to 3.30pm. All stall fees go to local charities (market dates)
Tring Farmers’ Market: Saturdays 5 and 19 December
Tring’s farmers’ market normally runs on the second and fourth Saturdays, but in December it switches to the first and third, so the dates are Saturday 5 and Saturday 19 December, 9am to 2pm, in Church Square, HP23 5AE (Tring Farmers’ Market). The 19th is the last chance to buy local produce before Christmas.
Hemel’s switch-on: a market with no date yet
Hemel Hempstead BID’s Christmas lights switch-on is the town centre’s other festive market, and its 2026 date has not been announced. Last year it was on Saturday 15 November, 1pm to 6pm, with “funfair rides and festive market stalls”, food and drink, live music and a fire show (Dacorum Borough Council events calendar, 2025). Our switch-on page will carry the 2026 date as soon as the BID publishes it.
Between those dates, the town’s general market on the Marlowes runs every Thursday and Saturday, 8am to 4pm (Saunders Markets).
Parking and getting there
Dacorum’s council car parks charge 8am to 6pm, seven days a week, Sundays included, so a Sunday market morning is a charged stay. Gadebridge Lane, a short walk from the Old Town, is free. Our parking in Hemel Hempstead page has the tariffs for all three towns. For Tring’s festival evening and Berkhamsted’s Festival of Light, check the roadworks and travel page for any High Street closure; none had been published when we checked on 6 October.
What is still to come
- The date of Hemel Hempstead’s Christmas lights switch-on, from Hemel Hempstead BID.
- Road closure orders for Tring on 28 November and Berkhamsted on 22 November.
- Any separate time for the Old Town Christmas Market on 13 December.
If you run a Christmas market or fair in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted or Tring, email hello@hemelhempsteadlive.co.uk with the date, times and venue and we will add it, free of charge.
